Vulnerabilities
Microsoft Edge (Chromium) Vulnerability CVE-2026-106340: Missing Authorization
A missing authorization flaw (CVE-2026-106340) in Chromium can allow attackers to bypass access controls. Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) inherits this issue until updated. Defenders should verify Edge version, apply the latest patch, and monitor for suspicious activity.
What happened
A flaw in Chromium’s authorization checks (CVE-2026-106340) was discovered by Google Chrome. The bug can let an attacker gain unauthorized access to protected resources if the check is bypassed.
Impact
Microsoft Edge (Chromium‑based) incorporates the affected Chromium code. Users running an unpatched Edge version are potentially vulnerable to privilege escalation or data exposure.
What to do
- Check the current Edge version on all endpoints.
- Upgrade to the latest Microsoft Edge release (see Microsoft Security Response Center for the exact version that includes the fix).
- Verify that the patch has been applied by inspecting the build number or running the command “edge --version”.
- Monitor security logs for anomalous access patterns that might indicate exploitation.
