CVE-2026-121636
The Quick Event Manager WordPress plugin before version 9.19 fails to verify PayPal payment notifications, allowing attackers to mark event
Overview
The Quick Event Manager WordPress plugin before version 9.19 fails to verify PayPal payment notifications, allowing attackers to mark event registrations as paid without actual payment. This flaw can lead to fraudulent ticketing and revenue loss for event organizers. It is a medium‑severity vulnerability that affects sites using the plugin.
Description
The Quick Event Manager WordPress plugin before 9.19 does not verify the authenticity of PayPal payment notifications before marking event registrations as paid, which could allow unauthenticated attackers to mark registrations as paid without making a payment.
Impact
The integrity of event registration data is compromised, as unauthorized users can falsely mark registrations as paid. This can result in financial loss and loss of trust for event organizers and attendees. The confidentiality of payment status remains intact, and availability is not directly affected.
Remediation
Update the Quick Event Manager plugin to version 9.19 or later. If an update is not immediately possible, disable PayPal IPN processing or implement custom verification of PayPal notifications before marking registrations as paid. Monitor registration logs for anomalous paid status changes and consider temporarily disabling public registration until the patch is applied.
Risk context
With a CVSS v3 score of 5.3 and a medium severity rating, the vulnerability poses a moderate risk. While no EPSS data is available, the potential for financial fraud warrants timely remediation.
