Overview
IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0-10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0-12.1.1.2 have an improper authorization flaw that lets a remote authenticated user retrieve sensitive data. This vulnerability can expose configuration and policy information. It is relevant to organizations running these API gateway products.
Description
IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information due to improper authorization.
Impact
The flaw allows an attacker with valid credentials to read protected data, compromising confidentiality. Availability is not directly affected, but the exposure of sensitive information could lead to further attacks. Defenders should treat this as a potential data leakage risk for internal APIs and management interfaces.
Remediation
Apply the latest security patch for IBM API Connect (10.0.8.13 or 12.1.1.3). If patching is not immediately possible, restrict API Connect administrative roles to the minimum required, disable unused services, and monitor for anomalous access patterns. Verify that role-based access controls are correctly configured and that no privileged accounts have unnecessary permissions.
Risk context
The CVSS v3 score of 6.5 indicates medium risk. No EPSS data is available, so the urgency is based solely on the severity. Defenders should prioritize patching as part of routine maintenance.
