CVE-2026-18689

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0‑12 and 12.1.0.0‑12.1.1.2 have a flaw that lets an authenticated user glean limited info about other organi

Overview

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0‑12 and 12.1.0.0‑12.1.1.2 have a flaw that lets an authenticated user glean limited info about other organizations. The issue stems from improper token validation, allowing cross‑organization data exposure. This can compromise confidentiality of organizational identities.

Description

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow an authenticated user to obtain limited information about other organizations due to incorrect authorization. A token issued for a limited purpose is accepted where it should not be, which could reveal the names of other organizations.

Impact

Confidentiality: Names of other organizations may be exposed to an authenticated attacker. Availability: No direct impact. Integrity: No direct impact. Defenders should treat this as a potential data leakage risk affecting internal data visibility.

Remediation

Apply IBM security patches that address CVE‑2026‑18689, specifically update to IBM API Connect 10.0.8.13 or later, or 12.1.1.3 or later. If patching is not immediately possible, restrict API Connect user roles to the minimum required and enforce strict token validation. Monitor audit logs for anomalous cross‑organization queries.

Risk context

Severity is medium (CVSS 4.3). No EPSS data available. The risk is moderate; defenders should prioritize patching but can mitigate temporarily with role restrictions.
