Overview

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0-10.0.8.12 uses a hard‑coded key to encrypt stored credentials. If an attacker obtains the stored data, they can decrypt the credentials, exposing sensitive authentication information.

Description

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 could allow an attacker with access to stored data to decrypt sensitive credentials due to the use of a hard-coded cryptographic key. The key protecting stored credentials is built into the product, so credentials could be decrypted if the stored data is obtained.

Impact

Confidentiality: credentials may be exposed. Integrity: potential misuse of decrypted credentials. Availability: not directly impacted. Defenders: system administrators, security teams, compliance officers.

Remediation

Apply IBM API Connect 10.0.8.13 or later patch that replaces the hard‑coded key. If patch is unavailable, re‑encrypt stored credentials with a unique key per deployment and enforce strict RBAC and audit logging on stored data.

Risk context

Medium severity (CVSS 6.8). No EPSS data available. Defenders should treat this as a moderate risk and prioritize patching to prevent credential compromise.
