CVE-2026-83944: Azure Logic Apps Elevation of Privilege via Improper Access Control

Microsoft identified an elevation of privilege flaw in Azure Logic Apps (CVE‑2026‑83944) that allows an unauthenticated attacker to gain higher network privileges through improper access control. All Logic Apps instances are potentially affected and require immediate patching and access review. Defenders should apply the latest updates, enforce least‑privilege RBAC, and monitor for anomalous activity.

What happened

Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) disclosed CVE‑2026‑83944, an elevation of privilege vulnerability in Azure Logic Apps caused by improper access control. An attacker who can reach a Logic Apps instance can manipulate permissions to obtain higher privileges on the underlying network.

Impact

All Azure Logic Apps deployments are potentially affected. The flaw can be exploited to elevate privileges, enabling lateral movement or unauthorized access to network resources.

What to do

  • Apply the latest Azure Logic Apps patch or update as released by Microsoft.
  • Review and tighten RBAC assignments for Logic Apps, ensuring only required roles are granted.
  • Enable diagnostic logging and monitor for unusual permission changes or access patterns.
  • Consider network segmentation and firewall rules to limit exposure of Logic Apps endpoints.

Mitigation

Microsoft recommends applying the update immediately and following best practices for least‑privilege access. No workarounds are publicly available.

For detailed patch information, refer to the MSRC advisory and Azure update center.
